Image CDN Usage and Billing

With Image CDN, image processing is deferred and served from Gatsby's Global Edge Network. This results in significantly faster builds and improved front-end performance.

Plan Limits

Image CDN usage is available in Site Settings → Images. Here you can see usage per site and aggregate for your workspace:

Free plan

Optimize up to 100 source images

Pro plan

Optimize up to 5,000 source images

Enterprise

Custom plan limit provided in enterprise contract

What counts as a source image?

A source image is the original image, before transformations or variants, that is uploaded to Image CDN. Gatsby Cloud only counts source images that are publicly accessed by a real visitor.

For example, if your site has 1,000 source images but in a given month only 500 images are optimized, Gatsby Cloud will only count the 500 accessed images towards your plan's limit. 

What happens if I go over my limit?

If you go over your plan limit, we will reach out to discuss upgrading your plan. Continued excessive usage may see your Image CDN access disabled. As always, we believe in fair transparent pricing and do not enforce platform limits or bill you for them if you go over.
